In-State clash is A-Sun/CSS Friday Night Game of the Week

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Occupying two of the top three spots in the Atlantic Sun standings, the second rendition of FGCU (19-9, 11-4 A-Sun) against Stetson (12-14, 9-6 A-Sun) on Friday at the Edmunds Center in DeLand, Fla. can been seen live on Comcast Sports Southeast (CSS) beginning at 7 p.m.

The game is the A-Sun/CSS Friday Night Game of the Week, continuing the partnership between the A-Sun and Comcast Sports Southeast for the 11th straight year. The game will also be aired on ESPN3.com and ESPN Full Court outside the CSS footprint. Cox Sports Television (CST) will carry the game on tape delay at 10 p.m. CSS can be found on channel 70 for Comcast subscribers in Southwest Florida. Matt Stewart (P-B-P/@Matt_StewartCSS) and Sonny Smith (Analyst) will have the call and were in Fort Myers for the Jan. 25th meeting in which FGCU defeated Stetson, 96-65. Behind all five starters in double figures, FGCU’s 96 points were a season-best, as the Green and Blue picked up their fifth win in the last six meetings in the series. The Eagles now hold a slight 6-5 edge in the all-time series and have won the last two meetings at the Edmunds Center. Over its last two wins at the Edmunds Center, FGCU is averaging a staggering 101.5 points, highlighted by the thrilling triple-overtime 111-103 victory in 2011.

The matchup pins FGCU’s top ranked scoring offense (73.4) in the A-Sun against Stetson’s 70.0 points per game that ranks third. The two teams also boast a combined four players in the top 10 in scoring and a total of six in the top 20, headlined by FGCU senior Sherwood Brown’s (Orlando, Fla./Olympia HS) 15.7 points and Stetson junior Adam Pegg’s 15.8 points.

The telecast will also showcase the A-Sun Scholar-Athletes of the Game, which will be FGCU volleyball sophomore Gigi Myer (Gainesville, Fla./Buchholz HS) and Stetson volleyball sophomore Katie DiGirolamo.
