MACON, Ga. – A rematch of the 2013 Atlantic Sun Championship final between defending champion FGCU and Mercer highlights a trio of A-Sun men’s basketball games scheduled to appear on ESPNU in 2013-14.

The game between the top two teams in the A-Sun last year will be played in Alico Arena on Friday, Feb. 21, at 6:05 p.m. To accommodate the national TV audience, the contest was changed from its original date of Saturday, Feb. 22. Additionally, FGCU’s final regular-season home game will now be against Kennesaw State at 1:35 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 23. That game was previously scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 20.

FGCU now has three nationally-televised contests during the 2013-14 regular season as its season opener at Nebraska on Nov. 8 will be on the Big Ten Network, and its home opener on Nov. 12 versus Hartford will be shown live on ESPN2 at 7 a.m. as part of “Breakfast at the Beach.”

“The increase in coverage for A-Sun basketball is based on achievement and reflects the hard work done by our basketball teams. We are very proud to continue expanding the ESPN/A-Sun partnership to bring more national exposure to our student-athletes and institutions,” said A-Sun Commissioner Ted Gumbart. “We look forward to showcasing A-Sun teams and their growing success with our teammates at ESPN.”

After FGCU and Mercer split their regular-season meetings last year, the Eagles claimed an 88-75 victory in the A-Sun title game on Mercer’s home court this past March. That provided the Green and Blue their first-ever conference championship and became the catalyst for the historic run in which they became the first 15-seed to reach the Sweet 16. Their efforts also resulted in a 2013 ESPY Award for “Best Upset.”

ESPN has also selected an additional Mercer game and a Northern Kentucky contest to appear on ESPNU this year as well. Mercer will face Big 12 opponent Oklahoma in Norman on Dec. 2, while NKU will head to Chapel Hill to battle North Carolina on Dec. 27.
