|YEAR AT FGCU||1st Season|
|ALMA MATER||FGCU '05|
One of FGCU’s most popular players in program history, Juan Cedeño returns to his alma mater as an assistant coach under Dave Balza. Cedeño joined the staff in late August of 2010.
On the court, Cedeño will work with FGCU’s post players, concentrating on skill development and rebounding. Cedeno will also assist in recruiting, scheduling and monitoring academic progress and compliance.
A two-year player under Balza from 2003-05, Cedeño returns to Fort Myers after serving as a volunteer assistant during the 2005-06 campaign in which the Eagles went 18-12.
Over two years in the Blue and Green as a player, Cedeño averaged 6.4 points and 6.3 rebounds over 57 games in which the Eagles went 46-12. Cedeño led the team in rebounding as a senior in 2004-05, helping guide FGCU to a 24-7 record and an appearance in the Division II National Tournament. Cedeño’s 217 caroms (7.0 RPG) in his final campaign rank fourth in single-season history.
"I’m so happy to have the opportunity to return to the Florida Gulf Coast University family,” said Cedeno. “I look forward to working for my former coach Dave Balza and the rest of the staff. My main goal is to give back to this University by working with this talented group of young athletes. It’s great to be back home.”
