Capping the strongest season in program history, the FGCU men’s and women’s cross country teams posted the best results in program history while shattering two program records to earn a spot on the awards podium at the NCAA South Region Championships Friday morning at the University of Alabama. The men’s team finished 17th overall while Kelly Perzanowski (St. Clairsville, Ohio/St. Clairsville HS) continued to shine against high-major competition placing 14th.

After ending their previous two seasons at NCAA South Region Championships, the FGCU cross country team heads to this season’s championship race looking to post the best results in program history, which if achieved could potentially advance the Eagles to NCAA National Championships. Racing through the University of Alabama’s Harry Pritchett Cross Country Course, the men’s 10k is set to begin at 11:00 a.m. with the women’s 6k following at 12:15 p.m. on Friday.
