FGCU Men's Cross Country Finishes 9th
Sunday, October 01, 2006

Pensacola, Fla. - The Florida Gulf Coast University men's cross country team finished ninth at yesterday's 2006 Division II Pre-National Invitational.

Junior Mike Harney (North Fort Myers, Fla.) and freshman Kyle Brunette (Venice, Fla.) both finished in the Top 50 as the Eagles look ahead to the Division II Regional Invitational in Memphis, Tennessee at the conclusion of the season.

This race served as great gear up for the 10K event later this year. The Eagles were able to compete in a qualified NCAA national 10K race and see where they stack up against some of the top schools in the south region. This race also is very beneficial to the Eagles' young runners. Four FGCU runners have never competed collegiately until this season. Travelling to Pensacola, gave the freshman runners a great opportunity to see what to expect for the NCAA Regionals.

The Eagles will travel to Orlando, Fla. next weekend to run in the Walt Disney World Sports Invitational.
