Ian McParland crossed the finish line first for the Eagles

Orlando, Fla. - The FGCU men’s cross country squad placed 13th in the Walt Disney World Sports Invitational. 41 teams participated in the event on Saturday morning.

Freshman Ian McParland (Cape Coral, Fla.) ran a personal best, and the first to cross the finish line for the Eagles with a time of 27:14. McParland’s time of 27:14 marked the best time of the season, and third best time in Eagle history. Freshman Noe Pena (Cape Coral, Fla.) was the next Eagle to cross the finish line with a time of 27:33. Sophomore Kyle Burnett (Venice, Fla.) finished with a mark of 28:12 as the third FGCU runner to cross the line. Seniors Mike Harney (Fort Myers, Fla.) and Ismael Galicia (Naples, Fla.) rounded out the scoring with times of 28:13 and 28:30 respectively.

The Eagles will be back on the course next weekend October 12th at the Stetson Hatter Invitational in Deland, Fla.
