Men's Cross Country Places Second in Opening Meet

DAVIE, Fla. - The FGCU cross country teams opened their season with both teams placing second at the 4th Annual King of the Hill Elite NCAA Invitational on Sunday morning at Vista View Park.

The men’s team earned 61 points as five Eagles placed in the top 20 of the 54-member race. Miami finished in first place with 48 points. The Eagles and Miami ran alongside of FIU, FAU and Nova Southeastern in the Wildside.com hosted event.

Senior Dino Bozzone paced the men in the 5K race, clocking in at 16:47 for a fifth-place finish for his first meet in the Blue and Green.

In his first collegiate race, freshman Argeo Cruz earned a 10th-place finish with a time of 16:59. Classmate Chris Rudloff, also running in his first collegiate race, crossed the finish line at 17:10 for a 14th-place finish.

Rounding out the top 20 finishers were sophomore Matthew Crowe finished in 16th (17:13) while redshirt freshman Gilbert Chemaoi (17:19) placed 19th.

FGCU rounds out September when it heads to Gainesville, Fla. for the Mountain Dew Invitational hosted by Florida on Saturday, Sept. 18 at the UF Golf Course. The men start at 8:30 a.m.
