Capping the strongest season in program history, the FGCU men’s and women’s cross country teams posted the best results in program history while shattering two program records to earn a spot on the awards podium at the NCAA South Region Championships Friday morning at the University of Alabama. The men’s team finished 17th overall while Kelly Perzanowski (St. Clairsville, Ohio/St. Clairsville HS) continued to shine against high-major competition placing 14th.

Racing through the University of Alabama’s Harry Pritchett Cross Country Course, the men’s 10k is set to begin at 11:00 a.m. with the women’s 6k following at 12:15 p.m. on Friday.

In the first Atlantic Sun Conference Championship event of the 2013-14 academic year, the FGCU men’s and women’s cross country teams put the Eagles on pace for a second-consecutive sweep of the A-Sun All-Sport trophies, as they continued to prove 2013 as the best season in program history. Highlighting this Championship Saturday was the men’s team’s program-best fourth-place finish and senior Kelly Perzanowski’s (St. Clairsville, Ohio/St. Clairsville HS) win in the women’s 5k to give the Green and Blue their first-ever individual cross country A-Sun champion.

Cruz beat the previous record of 25:37.81 by 17 seconds, which he set at the 2010 Atlantic Sun Conference Championships when he was a freshman.

The FGCU men's cross country team is off to one of its best starts in school history. Kyle Brunette, one of just two seniors on the squad, took some time this past week to record a journal of his daily activities. This is Kyle's account of what it's like to be a runner on the FGCU cross country team.

The FGCU cross country teams participated in the Sodexho Stetson Hatter Invitational on Friday evening. The men finished seventh out of 18 schools, while the women finished eighth out of 20 schools. The races were held at the Sperling Sports Complex in DeLand, Florida.

The Florida Gulf Coast University men's cross country team earned their first team victory of 2009, edging out Nova Southeastern by a single point, 35-36, at the flrunners.com Invitational in Titusville, Florida. The women had a strong showing as well, placing third overall amongst the ten participating schools.

The FGCU cross country teams participated in the 21st Annual Mountain Dew Invitational in Gainesville, Florida, on Friday evening. The women finished ninth out of 23 schools while the men finished 11th out of 18 schools.

The Florida Gulf Coast University men's and women's cross country teams will soon be heading out to Gainesville for the 21st Annual Mountain Dew Invitational, hosted by the University of Florida. The meet takes place on Friday, with the women's 5k race starting at 6:30 pm and the men capping off the evening with an 8k race slated to start at 7 pm. The meet will be held on the UF golf course, which is located on campus.
