FGCU Men Compete at Stetson Hatter Cross Country Invitational

DeLand, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast University men’s cross country team finished 10th out of 11 teams Friday evening at the 15th Annual Stetson Hatter Cross Country Invitational.

Sophomore Edison Vasquez led FGCU and finished 34th overall with a time of 29:05. Also for the Eagles, freshman Ronald Jean-Gilles placed 57th with a time of 30:30. Freshman Bryan Spiewak placed 72nd with a time of 31:55 to edge classmate Rob Clendening, who finished 73rd with a time of 31:57. Lyle Edixon was 82nd in a time of 33:10, a new personal record. Senior Chris Hernandez, running his final race after three seasons with the Eagles, finished 91st with a time of 34:46.

Bashir Hussain of Warner Southern took home medalist honors in the 8-K event as he finished with an overall time of 25:55. Warner Southern won the event with a score of 43.

The Eagles wrap up the season with the NCAA Division II Regional Championships in Memphis on November 6.
