Men's Cross Country Finishes 12th at Gator Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast University men’s cross-country team opened the season in the Mountain Dew/Gator Invitational on Friday night. The Eagles finished 12th of 16.

The Eagles team score of 372 placed the team in 12th in the season opener. The host (Florida) took the event with a team score of 15.

Ismael Garcia (Naples, Fla.) paced the squad with a 99th place finish and time of 29:13.16. Kyle Brunette was the next Eagle to cross the finish line with a time of 29:30.22 on the 8K course. Dustin Kapper (Seminole, Fla.) finished with a mark of 29:38.04 as the third FGCU runner to cross the line. Richard Black (Taymier, Fla.) and Greg Moore (Hudson, Fla.) rounded out the scoring with times of 29:50.79 and 31:26.92 respectively.

The team will be back in action again on September 22 when they travel to Tallahassee for the Florida State Invitational.
