PENSACOLA, Fla., - The FGCU men’s cross country squad placed 3rd in the Gulf Coast Stampede on Saturday afternoon. Seven teams participated in the event with Rutgers narrowly edging West Florida and FGCU.

The Scarlet Knights finished with a team score of 45 as Travis Stewart won with a 26:47. West Florida was just two points behind with a 47 while FGCU was only four behind the Knights with a team score of 49.

Mike Harney finished 4th with a time of 27:24. Ian McParland and Kyle Brunette both recorded top 10 finishes with times of 27:39 and 27:55 respectively. Noe Pena placed 12th with a time of 28:04 and Josh Brooks finished 15th with a time of 28:11.

The Eagles will be back on the course next weekend at the Walt Disney World Sports Invitational in Orlando, Fla.
