Cross Country Teams Each Finish 10th in Mountain Dew Gator Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The FGCU Cross Country teams participated in the Mountain Dew Gator Invitational Saturday morning, with both the men and the women finishing 10th. Kyle Brunette led the men's team in the 8K race with a time of 27:10.86, placing him 29th. For the women's 5K, Megan Thies led the way, crossing the finish line in a time of 19:54.62, good for 44th.

The University of Florida won the event in dominating fashion, sweeping all top seven spots in the men's 8K and seven of the top nine spots in the women's 5K. Fellow Atlantic Sun member North Florida finished second in men's race, with Florida International taking third. On the women's side, South Florida came in second and the University of Tampa, a Division II school, took third. Finishing fourth was A-Sun member Jacksonville, while North Florida came in seventh.

The Eagles will be back in action next Saturday, September 27th, in Tallahassee, Fla., to participate in the FSU Invitational. The men's race is scheduled to start at 7:30 AM with the women's race to follow at 8:10 AM.
