ORLANDO, Fla. – Behind all six competitor in the field’s top 30, the FGCU men’s cross country team placed third in the 11-team field at the UCF Black & Gold Challenge in Orlando, Fla. Friday night.

North Florida finished first with a score of 27, followed by Miami (45), FGCU (83), FAU (104) and USF (109) to round out the top five teams. The Eagles have finished in the top three in three of five races this fall.

"The men's team did a good job,” said head coach Cassandra Goodson. “They stuck to the plan and had a good showing. The UCF meet was a nice tune up for them leading into the A-Sun Championships."

All six competitors for FGCU placed in the top 30, led by junior Argeo Cruz’s (Immokalee, Fla./Immokalee HS) third place finish with a time of 26:11.62. Cruz has been the Eagles’ top finisher in all five races this season. Senior Dillon McGee (Indiatlantic, Fla./Melbourne HS) was the second FGCU student-athlete to cross the finish line when he came in 14th place with a time of 27:03.10.
