Men's Golf Team Closes Season at Southeastern Intercollegiate

VALDOSTA, GA – Florida Gulf Coast University struggled to a 17th place finish at the 54-hole Southeastern Intercollegiate, hosted by Valdosta State at the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.

Armstrong Atlantic State won the tournament with a 20-ver-par score of 884, easily outdistancing runner-up Rollins College, which had a three-round 890. West Florida was third with an 897 while Delta State and Barry University tied for fourth with 899. FGCU posted a three-round score of 935 (311-313-311).

Dan Walters of Rollins claimed the individual title, shooting a three-round score of 214 to edge Brian Ward of Tampa and Jonathan Cox of Armstrong Atlantic. Ward and Cox shot identical scores of 215 to tie for second.

Sophomore Alister Munro (Deventer, Holland) posted his best finish, shooting a three-round score of 233 to place 58th.

Junior Drew Pierson (Lockport, Ill.) placed 63rd with a 234. Senior Mike Claman (Wauchula, Fla.) was third for FGCU with a 236, good for 71st. Sophomore Kyle Bilodeau (Manchester, CT) was 73rd with a 237. Senior David Steele (Estero, Fla.) rounded out the Eagles players.
