Men's Golf finishes 17th at Southeastern Intercollegiate

VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Florida Gulf Coast University men’s golf team ended the season with a 17th place finish in the Southeastern Intercollegiate tournament hosted by Valdosta State University. They finished with a three-round final score of 941. The University of West Florida finished first with a final score of 866.

In the first round, freshman Chris Covelli (Amherst, NY) led the Eagles with a score of 76. Senior Drew Pierson (Lockport, Ill) and freshman Kyle Henderson (Clermont, FL) followed close behind both shooting a 77. The Eagles finished the first round in a tie for 16th with a score of 309.  

In the second round, the Eagles shot 308 with Henderson leading the way with a 73 to give him a two-day total of 150. Pierson shot a 75 giving him a two-day total of 152 and Chris Covelli (Amherst, NY) shot a 78 with a two-day total of 154.

The Eagles finished the tournament with a third round score of 324 placing them 17th overall. Pierson led the Eagles shooting a 79 giving him a final score of 231 and placing him tied for 51st. Covelli shot 80 giving him a final score of 234 and placing him in a tie for 65th. Henderson shot an 82 and he finished with a score of 232. Freshman Curtis Smither (Sarasota, FL) finished with a final score of 244.  

The Individual champion of the tournament was Chris Myers of West Florida with an overall score of 215.
