FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast University men’s golf team will play in four fall tournaments and at least six spring tournaments in 2005-06, assistant coach J.P. Meyer announced today.
The Eagles will play in four tournaments in the fall: the Coker College Invitational in Orlando (Sept. 26-27), the Cougar Invitational in Columbus, Ga. (Oct. 3-4), the 2005 Tillinghast hosted by St. John’s University in Scarsdale, New York (Oct. 17-18), and the Rollins College Invitational (Nov. 7-8).
Highlighting the spring schedule is the Lexus Naples Invitational, held at Hammock Bay Golf & Country Club in Naples on Feb. 25-28 and managed by Naples-based Peter Jacobsen Productions. Tour golfer Peter Jacobsen was the host for the inaugural event this past season.
Four of the other five spring tournaments will be played in the state of Florida. The Eagles will compete in The Outback Invitational in Panama City (Feb. 6-7), the Matlock Invitational in Lakeland (Feb. 13-14), the Buccaneer Invitational in Miami (March 5-7), and the El Diablo Invitational hosted by Marshall University near Ocala (March 17-19). Their final spring event will be a return visit to the Southeastern Intercollegiate in Valdosta, Ga. (April 2-4).
The NCAA Division II regional championships are slated for May 1-3 at sites to be determined.
