Men's Golf Takes Fifth at the Lonnie D. Small Memorial

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - At the 2007 Lonnie D. Small Spring Classic hosted by Campbell at Keith Hills Country Club No.1, the FGCU men’s golf squad had two golfers finish in the top-15 and took fifth place the second tournament of the spring season.
The 36-hole event was played on the 6,703 yard Par 72 Club layout. The teams played 18 holes on Monday (Mar. 3) and a final 18 on Tuesday (Mar. 4).
The Eagles recorded a composite team score of 596, two strokes ahead of sixth place USC Upstate, during the tournament’s 36 holes.
Kyle Henderson was the Eagles' top finisher in the two-day event when he turned in a one-over 145 to finish in ninth place. His best round came on Monday when he shot a 71.
Robert Taylor came in second on FGCU’s scorecard with a two-round total of 147 (+3) which tied him for 15th place individually. His best round of the event was a 3-under 69 on Monday.
Michael Hart recorded a score of 152 after posting 4-over 76’s in both rounds. Both Kyle Hammond and Daniel Mazziotta rounded out FGCU’s scorecard by recording 11-over 155’s, placing them T-52nd.
The Eagles will be back in action on Mar. 10 at the North-South Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla.
