FORT MYERS, Fla. - Florida Gulf Coast University has announced the hiring of two assistant golf coaches. Heather Hagerman will assist on the women’s side and Brent Jensen will replace JP Meyer, who assisted both the men's and women's team, on the men’s squad.

Hagerman recently completed her eligibility at FGCU and is one of the top golfers in program history. Last season, she was a second team All-Atlantic Sun selection. She won one tournament during her senior season and helped lead the Eagles to a pair of team titles during the year. She posted top five finishes in five tournaments last season. Hagerman was the Eagles top finisher in 15 consecutive tournaments and was the only player in the history of the program to qualify for the NCAA Division II South Region championships.

“I have grown so much from the FGCU athletics program and hope to continue to do so now being a part of the staff,” said Hagerman. “It was an honor to be chosen as assistant and all I can say is that I can’t wait to get down to business and win some events. Our team has a lot of potential and I am excited to help push the girls not only from a player prospective, but now from a coaching one.”

Jensen has been the assistant golf coach at his alma mater St. Mary’s for the past three seasons. He was also a touring professional for three years. He won the Roddy Ranch GC on the Pepsi Tour during the 2006 season. Jensen graduated from St. Mary’s in 2004. He was a two year captain for the program. He was named West Coast Conference Freshman of the year after the 2000 season and twice named WCC player of the month during his four year career.

“I am looking forward to the opportunity to help the team continue their success on and off the golf course as student-athletes in a new division,” said Jensen. “With Dr. Suttie at the teams head position, this particular team has the opportunity to learn the greatest game under one of the most knowledgeable golf minds of their time. Not everyone gets that luxury for four straight years.”
