FGCU's Patrick Williams Earns A-Sun Golfer of the Month
FORT MYERS, Fla. – FGCU’s Patrick Williams secured the first Atlantic Sun Men’s Golfer of the Month award in program history after claiming the top individual honor at the Stetson/CFSC Invitational, the conference office announced on Wednesday.
Williams, a sophomore from Toronto, submitted a fall season-best and took top individual honors with a 210 (73-67-70) score at the Stetson/CFSC Invitational. Williams’ second round score of five-under, 67, matched the low 18-hole score for the tournament. The Eagles set a tournament record 851 (283-281-287) and took first place out of nine teams. The Eagles bested a field that included teams from Stetson, USC Upstate, Lipscomb and Jacksonville.
Following a successful fall campaign that included team victories at the Mission Inn Intercollegiate and FGCU Men’s Invitational, in addition the Stetson/CFSC Invitational, the Eagles head to Houston to open the spring season at the Rice Intercollegiate Tournament on February 14.
Williams participated in four tournaments during the 2009 fall season:
FGCU Eagle Invitational (10/12/09) - 222 (78-68-76)
Mizuno Savannah Intercollegiate (10/18/09) - 230 (81-75-74)
Bethune-Cookman Invitational (10/25/09) - 221 (74-70-77)
Stetson/CFSC Invitational Tournament (11/3/09) - 210 (73-67-70)
