FGCU men's golf wins AASU Southbridge Invitational

Savannah, GA - The FGCU men's golf team began where they left off in the fall by capturing their first spring golf tournament event at the AASU Southbridge Invitational.

Adam Gary, the team captain and leader of the squad, shot a two-under-par 70 to capture the individual title by three strokes over teammate Joseph Lamielle. Gary, the first-round leader, finished the tournament with a six-under-par 138 total. Lamielle shot a second-round 70 as well to finish with a two-day total of 141, three-under-par. Fellow Eagle Chris Black fired the day's best round, a 68, to finish third individually with an even-par 144 total. David Steele shot a 148, which was good for seventh place, to help lead the Eagles to their title. Ryan Michaels, the final Eagle participant shot a 156 as he tied for 26th place. The Eagles fired a team best 280 the second round as they will head to Pfeiffer College March 2nd for their next tournament.
