Men's Golf Competes for NCAA Championship

ALLENDALE, Mich., FGCU's men's golf team struggled in the opening day of the NCAA Division II Championships. The Eagles are vying for the school's first national championship in the final championship appearance in Division II.

FGCU shot +28 in the opening round and sit in 19th after day one of the three day event. Kyle Henderson led the Eagles with a 73 on the par 71 course and is 36th after one round. Robert Taylor is +5 after the opening round after shooting a 76. Michael Hart was eight over par and Steven Taylor finished the day with an 84.

Barry, the leader after day one shot a +5 289 and has a three stroke lead over Grand Canyon University. FGCU's future Atlantic Sun rival South Carolina-Upstate is tied for third with Washburn at +12.

The tournament will resume tomorrow morning.
