DeLAND, Fla. - At the 2007 Hatter Fall Classic hosted by Stetson, the FGCU men’s golf squad had four golfers finish in the top-five and took the team title in the final tournament of the fall season.
The 54-hole event was played on the 6,007 yard Par 72 Victoria Hills Country Club layout. The teams played 36 holes on Monday (Nov. 5) and a final 18 on Tuesday (Nov. 6).
The Eagles recorded a composite team score of 880, 25 strokes ahead of second place Bethune-Cookman, during the tournament’s 54 holes.
Daniel Mazziotta was the Eagles' top finisher in the two-day event when he turned in a two-over 218 (+2) which placed him in 2nd overall. He shot a 71 in the second round of the tourney.
Robert Taylor came in second on FGCU's scorecard with a three-round total of 221 (+5) which tied him for third individually. His best round of the event was a 73 on Monday’s second round.
Kyle Henderson and Michael Hart both recorded scores of 222 (+6), placing them T-4th. Alister Munro rounded out FGCU's card with a 227 (+11), which placed him in a tie for 12th. Munro’s best round of 73 took place in Monday’s second round, while Hart (71) and Henderson (73) saved their best rounds for Tuesday’s round.
USC Upstate’s Josh Gallman claimed the tournament title with a 4-under 212..
The tournament marked the end of FGCU’s fall schedule. The Eagles now turn their attention to their spring slate.
