FORT MYERS, Fla., - The FGCU men’s golf team won the Mission Inn Collegiate Classic over the weekend. The Eagles posted the low score in each of the three rounds and Kyle Hammond and Michael Hart tied for third place.
The Eagles opened up the tournament with a 286, placing them in a first place tie. The Eagles then fired a 287 to take a six stroke heading into the last round. The Eagles posted their best round of the event with a 277, running away with a 12 shot win. The Eagles finished -2, and were the only team in the red.
Hammond and Hart both finished with a 211 at two under. Brandon Pena finished seventh with a 216. Zach Robinson and Josh Leppo finished 17th and 22nd respectively. Robinson was +8 at 221 with Leppo one shot behind. In the 15 team tournament, the Eagles stroke total of 850 was 12 shots better than Jacksonville State. Stetson was third at +22.
The Eagles will take the course again this weekend at the Big 5 Classic in Philadelphia, Pa.
