Eagles Finish Third at the Golden Ocala Collegiate

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - At the 2009 Golden Ocala Collegiate hosted by Florida, the FGCU men’s golf squad had four golfers finish in the top-20 and took third place the first tournament of the spring season.
The 36-hole event was played on the 6,882 yard Par 72 club layout.
The Eagles recorded a composite team score of 589, five strokes behind second place North Florida, during the tournament’s 36 holes.
Kyle Hammond (Windermere, Fla.) was the Eagles' top finisher in the two-day event when he turned in a three-under 141 to finish tied for third place.
Michael Hart (London, England) came in second on FGCU’s scorecard with a two-round total of 147 (+3) which tied him for 11th place individually.
Josh Leppo (Naples, Fla.) shot a 149 (+5), while competing as an individual. Gyles Robin finished with a two-round total of 152 (+8) and both Brandon Pena (Clewiston, Fla.) and Alex Medinis (Fort Myers, Fla.) rounded out FGCU’s scorecard by recording nine-over 153’s, placing them T-21st.
The Eagles will be back in action on Feb. 28 at the Lonnie D. Small Invitational in Buies Creek, N.C.
