FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Florida Gulf Coast University men’s golf team faced Villanova in a pair of matches Thursday and Friday, winning both.

The Eagles beat the Wildcats, 296-323, at Hammock Bay on Thursday, and 302-334 at West Bay Club in Estero on Friday.

FGCU’s Mike Hart and Cypress Lake graduate Daniel Mazziotta led the Eagles with 36-hole totals of 147. Hart shot 72-75, and Mazziotta shot 74-73.

Kyle Hammond (73-79/152), Brandon Pena (77-77/154), Zach Robinson (78-77/155) and Josh Leppo (80-79/159) also played for FGCU.

Scores for Villanova: Colin List (78-83/161), Brendan Kelly (80-85/165), Brett Bergman (81-87/168), Conor Casey (89-82/171), Doug Stadler (84-88/172) and Andrew Alexander (93-84/177).

The tournament was the first for Villanova since the fall semester.

The Eagles play in the Larry Nelson Intercollegiate in Kennesaw, Ga., beginning on March 28.
