Men's Golf Take Fifth at Larry Nelson Intercollegiate

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Florida Gulf Coast University men's golf team placed fifth in the Larry Nelson Intercollegiate on Tuesday at Chateau Elan in Braselton, Ga.

The Eagles saved their best score for the third and final round, shooting a 291, the best among the 14 teams. The Eagles finished with a 54-hole total of 889, three strokes behind Gardner-Webb. Stetson edged East Tennessee State and Murray State, 873-874, to win the title.

Brandon Pena tied for eighth overall, shooting a final-round 72 for a 218 total. Kyle Hammond shot a 2-under 70 and tied for 12th at 221.

Other finishers for the Eagles were: Michael Hart (75-74-74/223, T23), Daniel Mazziotta (78-75-76/229, T48), and Alex Medinis (80-75-75/230, T54).
