FORT MYERS, Fla. - The FGCU men's golf team has released its 2009-10 fall and spring schedules. The Eagles, who finished fifth at the 2009 A-Sun Championships, have loaded their schedule with a number of strong events as they prepare for 2010 A-Sun Championships.
The Eagles, who return 10 golfers from last year's roster, start the year with a five-tournament fall season. They begin the year at Kansas State’s Jim Colbert Intercollegiate in Manhattan, Kan. September 20-22. The Colbert Intercollegiate is one of two regular season out-of-state tournaments on this year's schedule.
FGCU then travels to Howie-In-The-Hills, Fla. to participate in the Mission Inn Intercollegiate hosted by St. John’s, before hosting the FGCU Men’s Invitational in Estero, Fla. at the West Bay Beach and Golf Club October 11-13. The Eagles then head east to play Bethune Cookman’s Fall Invite in Daytona Beach, Fla. The final tournament of the fall season will take the Eagles to DeLand, Fla. to the Stetson/CFSTC Invite November 3-4.
FGCU’s spring begins in February with a new tournament. The Eagles will compete in the Rice Intercollegiate in Houston, Tex. February 14-16 before participating in Butler’s Don Benbow Intercollegiate (Jacksonville Beach, Fla.) and the FAU Invitational (Delray Beach, Fla.) in March.
The challenging schedule will prepare FGCU for the postseason and a return trip to the 2010 Atlantic Sun Championships. This year's conference tournament will take place April 20-22.
