Men's Golf takes First Place at Mission Inn Intercollegiate

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – The FGCU men’s golf team earned first place honors after leading all three rounds at the Mission Inn Intercollegiate Tournament in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla on Sunday afternoon. Junior Daniel Mazziotta lead all individuals and Junior Josh Leppo tied for second place overall.

As a team, the Eagles took first place out of 13 teams with a score of 864 (285-288-291). The competition included St. John's, Stetson, Loyola, Savannah State, Bethune-Cookman, Florida A&M, Rollins, Villanova, Appalachian State, Boston College, U.T. Pan American, and Western Kentucky.

At -4 through the three rounds, Mazziotta (Fort Myers, Fla.) was the top individual out of 65 golfers with a score of 209 (68-70-71).

In a three-way tie for second, Leppo (Naples, Fla) finished the tournament with a score of 212 (71-70-71).

The FGCU men’s golf team will take to the tees again on Monday, October 12th as they host the FGCU Men’s Invitational in Estero, Fla.
