FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast University men’s golf team will compete in the team’s final tournament of the fall season, as they travel to the Stetson/CFSTC Invitational tournament. The two-day outing will get underway on Monday morning in Deland, Fla. at the Victoria Hills Golf Club.
The Eagles will be competing against Bethune-Cookman, Rollins, USC Upstate, FAU, Lipscomb, Jacksonville, Murray State, and tournament host Stetson at the three-round event.
Florida Gulf Coast has been playing solid golf all season long, earning back-to-back first place finishes at the Mission Inn Intercollegiate Tournament and at the FGCU Men’s Invitational. Junior Daniel Mazziotta (Fort Myers, Fla.) submitted the best score of 209 (68-70-71) at Mission Inn, as did Senior Mike Hart (London, England) at the FGCU Men’s Invitational 211 (69-70-72).
Most recently, the Eagles are coming off a 2nd place finish at the Bethune-Cookman Invitational Tournament. Sophomore Alex Medinis (Fort Myers, Fla.) finished tied for second with a score of 214, (73-66-75) and Mazziotta also placed in the top 10 overall with a three-round score of 216 (70-74-72).
The 18-hole course at the Victoria Hills Golf Club facility in Deland, Florida features 6,989 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 73.5 and it has a slope rating of 142 on Bermuda grass. The Victoria Hills golf course opened in 2001.
