KOHLER, Wisc. –
Former FGCU men’s golfer Derek Lamely
will be a part of the 156-player field at this weekend’s 92nd PGA Championship that will begin on Thursday morning at historic Whistling Straights.
Paired with Stephen Gallacher and Keith Ohr, Lamely was scheduled to tee off at 8:10 a.m. ET, but fog has delayed the start of the tournament. The trio will begin on the first tee when the fog lifts and are scheduled to go off the 10th tee to start Friday’s second round at 1:25 p.m. ET.
Live coverage of the PGA Championship can be found on www.pga.com. The par-72 course will play 7,362 yards in length.
The major championship is the second of the season for Lamely, who played in the 110th U.S. Open at Pebble Peach in June. Since the U.S. Open, Lamely has made the cut in two of his last three tournaments, highlighted by a tie for 36th at the Greenbrier Classic (69-69-63-68) two weeks ago. Lamely enters this weekend after producing four straight under-par rounds at the Greenbrier Classic, including a seven-under par 63 in Saturday’s third round.
Lamely qualified for this weekend’s PGA Championship when he won the Puerto Rico Open in March. He currently ranks 80th in the FedEx Cup standings with 486 points thanks to his win at the Puerto Rico Open and two other 20 finishes. Lamely tied for 18th at the Bob Hope Classic (68-69-66-71-66) in January and tied for 11th at the Arnold Palmer Invitational (71-70-70-73) in late March.
