Boca Raton, Fla. - The Florida Gulf Coast University men's soccer team dropped its second game of the FAU Classic to Iona, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles fall to 3-2 while the Gaels improve to 2-4-0.

The Gaels took the lead on Aly Lo's goal in the 17th minute. Lo split two defenders and knocked a ball past Adam Glick (Leola, Pa.) and into the top right corner of the goal. Iona would go on to pad their lead with a Giovanni Destasio strike in the 32nd minute. Destasio's goal was assisted by Pasquale Abiuso, who dribbled through the FGCU defenders and found Destasio behind the defense for the score.

Matthew O'Shaughnessy (Trinity, Fla.) and Trent Anderson (Tanpa, Fla.) each had one of the Eagles two shots on goal. O'Shaughnessy also had a shot on goal in the first game of the FAU Classic.

Keeper Adam Glick started the game in between the pipes and recorded six saves but the freshman also allowed two goals in the loss.

After struggling in the first half, the Eagles shutout the Gaels in the second period and also controlled the ball for most of the period, as evidenced by their 5-4 shot advantage, but Iona's keeper Nils Binstock tallied two saves and earned the shutout victory.

The Gaels were issued three yellow cards during the game, while freshman Chris DiNapoli (Palm Harbor, Fla.) received FGCU's only card, a yellow in the 70th minute. Iona was whistled for 16 fouls in the game, compared to only nine infractions by the Eagles.

FGCU will be back in action next weekend when they host the FGCU Embassy Suites Kick-Off Classic. The Eagles host Navy on Friday (7 pm) before hosting Illinois-Chicago on Sunday (1 pm).
