FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast University Men's Soccer team defeated Eckerd College 1-0 at the FGCU Soccer Complex on Saturday evening.

FGCU scored the lone goal of the match off a Manuel Gonzalez (Pompano Beach, Fla.) penalty kick in the 73rd minute.

The Eagles will open the regular season on the road against Florida International on Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. FGCU opens the home portion of their schedule on Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. against No. 11 USF.
