FORT MYERS, Fla. – Moving into first place in the Atlantic Sun Conference standings following a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory over Jacksonville, the FGCU men’s soccer team is set to close the A-Sun regular season slate with a trip to Jacksonville, Fla. on Sunday to take on UNF beginning at 1 p.m.

With a number of seeding scenarios still alive, FGCU needs a win or a draw on Sunday to secure the A-Sun tournament No. 1 seed and a share of its second straight A-Sun regular season crown. The Eagles hold the tie-breaker over second place Jacksonville and third place Stetson thanks to a pair of victories. Aside from the Eagles, three other schools have clinched a spot in the six-team tournament field which include Jacksonville, Stetson and Lipscomb.

The first place Eagles enter the contest with a 9-4-2 overall record and a 6-1 mark in A-Sun play. In a battle of the top two teams in the A-Sun standings last Thursday, the Green and Blue used a golden goal from freshman Xavier Silva (Boca Raton, Fla./North Broward Prep) in the 93rd minute of overtime to defeat Jacksonville, 2-1, on a muggy night at the FGCU Soccer Complex. The victory over the Dolphins secured a first round bye in the A-Sun tournament for the Eagles.

FGCU’s offensive attack is led by senior midfielder Cristian Raudales (Bradenton, Fla./Manatee HS), who holds 11 points on a team-high five goals and one assist. Sitting in a three-way tie for second on the team with 10 points apiece, Silva has four goals, including three game-winners, and two assists, while senior midfielder Josey Portillo (Metairie, La./Grace King HS) and junior William Morse (Sugar Land, Texas/Clements HS) both have a pair of goals and a team-leading six assists. The six assists from Portillo and Morse also tie the single-season program record.

A finalist for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award, redshirt senior goalkeeper Adam Glick (Leola, Pa./Conestoga Valley HS) has played 1123:19 minutes in net this season for the Eagles, totaling 44 saves while allowing 14 goals and holding a 1.12 goals against average. In the last three contests freshman Nathan Ingham (Ontario, Canada/Keswick HS) has earned victories in net for the Eagles, totaling 13 saves and a .812 save percentage while allowing three goals.

With a commanding 17-1 advantage in goals, FGCU leads the all-time series with Ospreys 4-0. On Senior Day last year at the FGCU Soccer Complex, the Eagles came away with a 6-0 victory. In the contest, then-junior Scott Harrison (Cocoa, Fla./Merritt Island HS) netted a hat trick, the first time the feat had been accomplished in program history. It marked the second time in which Harrison had recorded a program-record six points in a contest, with the first also coming against the Ospreys during the 2008 season when he registered two goals and two assists.

UNF sits at 1-14-0 on the season with a 0-7 record in A-Sun play. Enrique Haeussler leads the Ospreys offensively with a pair of goals, while three other players have netted one goal this season. Federico Bertele has seen the majority of time in net for UNF, allowing 34 goals and recording 49 saves through his 13 contests.
