FORT MYERS, Fla. – After receiving NSCAA South Regional votes, the FGCU Men’s Soccer team heads to Greenville, S.C. for the Diadora /Spinx Furman Invitational for matches against Furman University and the College of Charleston.
FGCU went 1-2-0 on the week against tough competition. The Eagles posted a win against FIU (1-0) but then fell at home to No. 11 USF (1-0) on a goal in the 87th minute. FGCU ended the weekend with a road overtime loss to FAU (1-0) in Boca Raton, Fla.
The Eagles first match is scheduled for Friday, September 11th at 7 p.m against the Furman University Paladins and then against the College of Charleston Cougars on Sunday, September 13th at 12 p.m.

The Florida Gulf Coast University men's soccer team lost for the first time during its inaugural season, falling to Furman 3-0 in the second day of action at the CCU/Adidas Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
The Paladins got on the board first in the 26th minute of the game.
The first period ended with Furman taking a slight 1-0 edge going into halftime. FGCU was outshot 6-2 and lost the corner kick battle 5-1 in the first half
The second half was played fairly even until Furman got on the board again, beating keeper Adam Glick (Leola, Pa.) with a 20-yard shot in the 72nd minute to extend the lead to 2-0.
Furman’s keeper tallied two saves while Adam Glick notched six stops for FGCU. The Eagles were outshot 17-5 and lost the corner kick battle 12-4.
Arjun Jani (Sarasota, Fla.) and Matthew O’Shaughnessy (Trinity, Fla.) were named to the all-tournament team.
Series Information with College of Charleston: This is the first meeting between the two schools.
