FGCU Falls to Syracuse, 3-0, at Mayor's Cup XXXIII

ONEONTA, N.Y. - The Florida Gulf Coast University men's soccer dropped its final game of the Mayor's Cup by losing to Syracuse 3-0 on Sunday afternoon.

The first period ended with a scoreless tie as the young Eagles showed a ton of moxie and stopped several flurries by the SU (3-0-1) offense. FGCU (1-2-1) was outshot 7-1 and lost the corner kick battle 3-1 in the first half.

In the second half Syracuse added three goals and controlled the period as the took nine shots to FGCU’s one. Tom Perevegyencev, Hansen Woodruff and Kyle Hall scored the three SU goals, which all came within a 16-minute span. 

Syracuse's goalkeeper Robert Cavicchia picked up the shutout while Adam Glick (Leola, Pa.) notched three stops in the loss.

The Eagles will be back in action next weekend when they host Seattle in their home-opener. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m.
