Coming off an historic 2011 season which included an Atlantic Sun regular season and tournament title, as well as the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance, reigning A-Sun Coach of the Year Bob Butehorn and his staff have announced the addition of 10 players for the upcoming fall season.

Looking to defend its second consecutive Atlantic Sun regular season title as well as its first-ever A-Sun tournament championship and NCAA Tournament appearance, the FGCU men's soccer program and head coach Bob Butehorn have announced the 2012 schedule. The 17-game slate will feature nine home contests and includes five matches against opponents that competed in the NCAA Tournament a season ago.

Earning a 3.43 GPA as a dual major in business management and marketing, FGCU men’s soccer redshirt senior goalkeeper Adam Glick was recognized with an honorable mention by the media outlet.

In the opening round of the NCAA Championship, the FGCU men's soccer team fell to host UCF, 1-0, in double-overtime on Thursday at the UCF Soccer Complex in Orlando, Fla. Controlling the pace of play for the majority of the match, the Eagles surrendered the golden goal to the Knights in the 107th minute of play.

Following a four-year wait during the NCAA Division I reclassification period, the FGCU men’s soccer team made good on its first-ever postseason appearance, defeating sixth-seeded tournament host ETSU in the 2011 Atlantic Sun Championship final on Sunday in Johnson City, Tenn. The Eagles used a goal in the 89th minute of play by Scott Harrison to down the Bucs, 1-0, and advance to the NCAA Tournament in their first year of eligibility.
