FORT MYERS, Fla. – Returning from a west coast trip last weekend, the FGCU men’s soccer team will play host to Atlantic 10 foe Rhode Island on Thursday evening at the FGCU Soccer Complex beginning at 7 p.m.

The Green and Blue enter the midweek matchup holding a 0-1-2 record, following a pair of 1-1 draws at the Nike Portland Invitational against host Portland and PAC-12 foe Washington. It will mark the first meeting between the schools and the first of two meetings with an A-10 opponent this season. The Eagles will take on Saint Louis at the USF Tournament later this month.

The Eagles trailed host Portland, 1-0, midway through the second half on Friday, however freshman Yianna Sarris (Mentor, Ohio/St. Ignatius HS) netted his first collegiate goal to level the game at one apiece. Playing a man down for the majority of the Sunday contest, senior midfielder Cristian Raudales (Bradenton, Fla./Manatee HS) pushed the Eagles out to a 1-0 lead in the second half, but a late tally from Washington resulted in FGCU’s second draw of the weekend trip.

Redshirt senior keeper Adam Glick (Leola, Pa./Conestoga Valley HS) was stellar in net through the pair of games, clocking all 220 minutes and making 12 saves over the two contests on his way to tournament Defensive MVP.

Rhode Island (1-3-0) is coming off a split at the Ocean State Soccer Classic last weekend. The Rams won their opening contest at Bryant, 1-0, on Friday, but dropped an overtime match against Providence, 1-0 on Monday evening. Redshirt junior Joey Haught and senior defenseman Franco Lo Presti each hold a goal apiece for the Rams, while preseason A-10 All-freshman selection Matt Sykes and classmate Mike Casey have each recorded an assist. Redshirt senior Peyton Warwick has played every minute in goal this season, making 26 saves and allowing four goals in four contests. The Rams were picked 12th in the A-10 Conference preseason poll, repeating their finish from a season ago.

Tickets can be purchased in-person at the FGCU Ticket Office or by calling 239-590-7145. Tickets will also be on sale at the gate starting one-hour prior to kick-off, but only cash is accepted. FGCU students, faculty and staff get in free with Eagle ID.

All Southwest Florida First Responders will be honored and be admitted free of charge with identification. First Responders include armed forces, law enforcement, firefighters, EMS, civil support teams, rescue and 911 dispatch. Everyone in attendance can partake in the $1 hot dog promotion.
