FORT MYERS, Fla. – The FGCU men’s soccer team lands back at FGCU Soccer Complex to begin an Atlantic Sun Conference three-game homestand on Friday evening against Lipscomb with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. The Eagles will then recognize their nine-member senior class on Sunday afternoon prior to their 1 p.m. start with Belmont.

Currently 41st in the RPI rankings and second in the A-Sun standings with nine points, FGCU enters the weekend with a 6-4-2 overall record, including a 3-1 mark in A-Sun play. On the road last weekend, the Eagles took down USC Upstate, 1-0, with a goal in the 83rd minute on Friday. The Green and Blue then headed to Johnson City, Tenn., where they fell to defending tournament champion ETSU, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon. FGCU is currently riding a 12-game (11-0-1) A-Sun home unbeaten streak.

Prior to Sunday’s contest with Belmont, the Eagles will honor their nine-member senior class which includes Kevin Ante (Miami, Fla./Varela HS), Francesco DiStefano (Kissimmee, Fla./Osceola HS), Adam Glick (Leola, Pa./Conestoga Valley HS), Scott Harrison (Cocoa, Fla./Merritt Island HS), Jonathan Hohn (Royal Palm Beach, Fla./Royal Palm Beach HS), Jonathan Koshko (New Port Richey, Fla./Mitchell HS), Josey Portillo (Metairie, La./Grace King HS), Cristian Raudales (Bradenton, Fla./Manatee HS) and Tyler Sharpe (Merritt Island, Fla./Merritt Island HS).

Leading the Green and Blue offense, Portillo has nine points this season on two goals and a team-leading five assists, which also ranks second in the conference. Raudales sits atop the goals column with four this season, while DiStefano, junior Andres Navas (Miami, Fla./Sunset Senior HS/FIU) and freshman Xavier Silva (Boca Raton, Fla./North Broward Preparatory School) each hold a pair of goals and one assist each.

One of ten finalists for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award, redshirt senior Glick has started every contest and played every minute (1123:19) in net this season. The Leola, Pa. product has recorded 44 saves while allowing 14 goals, for a goals against average of 1.12, which currently ranks second in the A-Sun. Glick also ranks fourth in the league with a .759 save percentage. In the 1-0 shutout over USC Upstate last Friday, Glick picked up his 32nd career victory. With three shutouts this season, Glick sits third in A-Sun history with 19 and is just four away from the record set by from Jeff Cassar of FIU (1992-95).

Holding slight lead in goals scored, 6-5, the Eagles lead the all-time series with Lipscomb, 3-1. In last season’s A-Sun opener in Nashville, Tenn., the Green and Blue needed an overtime period to take down the Bisons, 2-1.

With a record of 4-9-2 (3-2 A-Sun), Lipscomb sits third in the league standings. The Bisons are led by Garrett Pettis’ A-Sun leading 19 points, coming off a league-best eight goals and three assists. Nick Bibb has also netted five goals, while Kyle Erickson has a team-high five assists which is good for second in the A-Sun. Brett McGee has seen the majority of time in net, allowing 26 goals through 15 games and making 53 saves with a pair of shutouts. The Bisons three A-Sun victories have come at then-No. 22 ETSU, 2-1, and against Belmont, 2-1, and UNF, 5-0, in addition to losses at USC Upstate, 3-1, and against Jacksonville, 2-1.

Last season in Nashville, Tenn. the Eagles took down Belmont, 2-0, on a pair of second half goals. Although the Green and Blue hold a 7-3 goal advantage, the all-time series with the Bruins sits level at 2-2.

Belmont makes a stop in DeLand, Fla. on Friday to take on Stetson, holding a record of 6-6-2 which includes a 2-1-2 A-Sun mark. Brandon Tarr’s 17 points leads the Bruins, coming off a league-high eight goals and one assist.
