Mark Prizant is entering his first season as an assistant coach for the Florida Gulf Coast University men’s soccer program.

Prior to joining the FGCU men’s soccer staff, Prizant served as an assistant coach at the University of Evansville. In his one year at Evansville, Prizant helped the Aces reach the Missouri Valley Conference tournament championship and narrowly missed the NCAA Tournament. A record-tying four players made the All-Midwest Region Team in 2009. The 2009 team was recognized by each of the major national polls, receiving votes in the Soccer Times and NSCAA national polls as well as being ranked nationally in the Top Drawer Soccer polls.

Prizant's coaching career began shortly after he graduated from Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y. Prizant served as Head Coach at SUNY Old Westbury in Old Westbury N.Y. from 2001-04, At age 23, he was the youngest Division III head coach in the country. In his time at Old Westbury, Prizant served on the ECAC selection committee and the NSCAA Metro Region Rankings committee. In each of his four seasons, Old Westbury finished in the top half of conference standings and had at least one Regional All-America selection each season.

After four seasons at Old Westbury, Prizant joined US Youth Soccer to work as the Associate Director of Coaching for the state of Alabama. In Alabama, Prizant was responsible for the training and development of 2000+ registered coaches, as well as the co-director for the states’ Olympic Development Program.

After a successful tenure in Alabama, Prizant moved to Florida to resume a more hands on approach in coaching with various youth soccer organizations in Southwest Florida. In addition, Prizant has served on the staff of the Olympic Development Program in Florida since 2006.

Prizant graduated from the Hofstra University in 2001 with abachelor’s degree in Business Management. As a student-athlete at Hofstra he was a part of teams that qualified for three conference tournaments. Prizant holds a USSF ‘A’ license an NSCAA Premier Diploma, and has accreditations from coaching schools in Brazil, Argentina, England and the USA.

Prizant along with his wife, Leslie, two sons, Darion and Alik, two daughters, Taylor and Teagan, reside in Naples.
