Three FGCU Men's Tennis Players Earn Academic Honors
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Florida Gulf Coast University has three players on this season’s Scholar Athlete Team as compiled by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Departing senior Richard Stempnowski, sophomore Sean McCann and freshman Chris Caswell were named to the 2005 ITA Scholar Athlete honor roll. Stempnowski, a graduate student at FGCU from Cape Coral, Florida, was honored for the third straight year. McCann, an undeclared major from Sparks, Nevada, earned his second straight Scholar Athlete recognition while Caswell, a freshman business major from Lakeland, Florida, was named to the team for the first time.
To earn this honor, a player must have earned a varsity letter, have a GPA of at least 3.50 (on a 4.0 scale) and have been at their current school for at least two semesters.
The Eagles went 19-5 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division II championship tournament.
