Eagles Lose Fourth In A Row

Fort Myers, Fla. – The FGCU Men’s Tennis team dropped a close match to Gardner-Webb Saturday afternoon 4-3. The Eagles record falls to 1-4 on the year, 0-2 in conference play, while the Bulldogs improve to 6-6, 1-1 in A-Sun play.

FGCU took the doubles point with wins from Brenton Bacon & Andrew Kam at the #1 position, 8-3, as well as Danny Lee & Ervin Garibovic at the #2 position, 8-4.

In singles action Gardner-Webb took 4 of the 6 matches, including a close match at the #5 position where Grant Van Rensburg (Manalapan, NJ) defeated Edson Lima (Brasilia, Brazil) 6-3, 3-6, 6-4. Ervin Garibovic (Bradenton, Fla.) and Danny Lee (Naples, Fla.) were the lone Eagles to win their singles matches, winning the #3 and #4 matches respectively.

The Eagles will be back in action tomorrow afternoon at the FGCU Tennis Complex taking on Villanova at 3 PM.
