Men's Tennis Drops Final Conference Match
BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The FGCU men’s tennis team wrapped up the 2009 Atlantic Sun Conference portion of their schedule on Wednesday with a 7-0 loss at Campbell University. The Eagles finish the A-Sun season with a 1-9 conference record, and currently stand at 5-14 overall.
The Camels swept all three doubles matches to claim the first point of the match, and they would continue to dominate throughout singles play. Thibaud Aime, playing in the number two position, was the only Eagle able to extend his match to three sets, eventually falling to Larbi Lamzouri, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3. Frank Acierno battled hard in his match, nearly winning the first set, but he also came up short, losing to Jeroen Kuppens, 7-5, 6-2.
The Eagles wrap up the season with a home match on April 15th at 2:00 PM against DePaul.
