Aime and Rock Head to Consolation Bracket at ITA's

ATHENS, Ga. – Thibaud Aime and Matthew Rock each dropped tough matches in the first round of the 2009 Wilson/ITA Southeast Regional Championship, so both will head to the consolation bracket on Saturday morning. In doubles play, Aime/Rock ousted a duo from Georgia before losing to a team from Florida State in the Round of 16.

In the first round of the main singles draw, Thibaud Aime (Figeac, France) and Matthew Rock (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) each dropped close matches in the first round. Aime was defeated 6-4, 6-4 by Mark Oljaca from South Florida, while Rock was knocked off by Florida Atlantic’s Georg Matschke, 7-6, 6-3. In the doubles competition, Aime and Rock paired up and ousted Georgia’s Alex Hill and Will Reynolds, 8-6, before falling to Florida State’s Connor Smith and Vahid Mirzadeh, 8-3, in the Round of 16.

Both Aime and Rock will be back at it tomorrow morning, as they will begin play in the consolation bracket. Aime will take on Joey Burkhardt from the University of Florida, while Rock will battle with Georgia Southern’s Matthijs Verdam.
