Men's Tennis Travels to Georgia for Pair of A-Sun Contests

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Atlantic Sun Conference season continues for the FGCU men’s tennis team, as it travels to Georgia for a pair of dual matches. The Eagles travel to Kennesaw State on Friday at 11 a.m. and then to Mercer on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.

The Blue and Green are coming off a mid-week loss to Georgia Southern, 4-2, in a rain-shortened dual on Wednesday. FGCU brings a 2-8 (0-3 A-Sun) record into the dual match with KSU.

Competing for the Eagles will be seniors Steve Binninger (St. Augustine, Fla./Saint Joseph Academy), Carlo Checchia (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Ceteb/Coastal Carolina University) and Mitchell Lvovsky (Dania Beach, Fla./Keystone HS/Wingate University), junior Matthew Rock (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Jacksonville University), sophomores Collin Brown (Tallahassee, Fla./Florida State University School) and Gabriel Echeverry (Popayan, Columbia/Gimnasio Calibio), as well as, freshman Dean Tsamas (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay HS).

KSU brings a 6-6 (1-1 A-Sun) mark into the matchup with the Eagles. The Owls defeated Belmont (March 4) in the A-Sun opener, 5-2, but dropped its second league contest to Lipscomb (March 5), 5-2.

Heading into its contest with Stetson on Friday, Mercer has recorded a 4-6 (1-1 A-Sun) record. The Bears lost 4-3 to Lipscomb (March 4) to open the conference slate, but rebounded with a 4-2 defeat of Belmont (March 5) in their next outing.
