TALLAHASEE, Fla. – The FGCU men’s tennis team will enter Saturday with just three players in the singles consolation bracket, as it fell in both singles and doubles main draw action on Friday at the USTA/ITA Southeast Regional Championships hosted by Florida State at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center.

With three players in the singles main draw and four teams in the doubles main draw, FGCU saw no individuals or teams advance in either bracket. A top 16 seed in the tournament, Vives took the first set of his Round of 64 match with Georgia Tech’s Juan Melian, 6-4, but dropped the final two sets, 6-1 and 7-5 for his first setback since the Bedford Cup. Vives won five matches at the FGCU Fall Classic three weeks ago to take on the singles championship.
