FGCU Men's Tennis Improves to 13-2

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The No. 12 Florida Gulf Coast University men’s tennis team won two doubles and four singles matches for a 6-3 win over the Colorado School of Mines at the FGCU Tennis Complex Monday afternoon. FGCU won the first two doubles matches for a quick 2-0 lead. Seniors Richard Stempnowski (Cape Coral, FL) and Jose Pastrello (Limiera, Brazil) improved to 15-2 in the first position with an 8-2 win. Juniors Juan Carlos Osorio (Equito, Ecuador) and Tim Offerman (Hamburg, Germany) improved to 11-2 with an 8-3 win in the second position. The Eagles held on for four consecutive singles wins to secure their fifth straight victory and improve to 13-2 overall. Stempnowski and Osorio came back for straight set singles wins at No.1 and No. 2, respectively. Offerman picked up a win at No. 3, winning the tiebreaker 10-4, while senior Seth Fogelman (Naples, FL) grabbed a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles. FGCU returns to action Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. against the University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez at the FGCU Tennis Complex. Singles competition 1. Richard Stempnowski (FGCU) def.
