No. 17 FGCU Bests Southern Indiana in Men's Tennis

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The No. 17 Florida Gulf Coast University men’s tennis team picked up their third straight win with a 9-0 whitewash of the University of Southern Indiana on Monday morning at the FGCU Tennis Complex. Each of FGCU’s top six players won two matches apiece. Seniors Juan Carlos Osorio (Quito, Ecuador) and Tim Offerman (Hamburg, Germany) teamed up for a win at No. 1 doubles and then came through with victories at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Osorio, ranked No. 3 in NCAA Division II, picked up his 25th career dual match singles victory to move past Jose Pastrello (’05) into fourth on the Eagles all-time win list. Junior Alberto Gutierrez (Bogotá, Columbia) and freshman Brad Henderson (Lithia, Fla.) were victorious at No. 2 doubles before earning singles wins at No. 2 and No. 6 singles. Freshmen Edson Lima (Brasilia, Brazil) and Danny Lee (Naples, Fla.) won at No. 3 doubles and earned singles wins at No. 4 and No. 5. FGCU (4-1) hosts Indiana-Purdue at Fort Wayne on Monday afternoon.
