No. 17 FGCU Rolls Past IPFW in Men's Tennis

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The No. 17 Florida Gulf Coast University men’s tennis team picked up its third shutout with a 9-0 win over Indiana University-Purdue University at Fort Wayne on Monday afternoon at the FGCU Tennis Complex. Seniors Juan Carlos Osorio (Quito, Ecuador) and Tim Offerman (Hamburg, Germany) improved to 6-0 on the season with a win at No. 1 doubles and then came through with victories at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Junior Alberto Gutierrez (Bogotá, Columbia) and sophomore Gavin Manders (Warwick, Bermuda) were winners at No. 2 doubles before earning singles wins at No. 2 and No. 4 singles. Freshmen Edson Lima (Brasilia, Brazil) and Danny Lee (Naples, Fla.) won at No. 3 doubles. Lee earned a win at No. 5 singles while freshman Rick Taurel (Plantation, Fla.) picked up his first career victory at No. 6 singles. FGCU (5-1) hosts LaSalle on Tuesday afternoon.
