FORT MYERS, Fla. - FGCU men’s tennis coach J. Webb Horton announced on Friday afternoon that Michael Beiler (Palm Harbor, Fla./Dunedin HS) has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the program in the fall of 2011.

“Michael is very solid singles and doubles player,” said Horton. “Ranked at No. 47, I believe he is one of the sleepers from the state of Florida. He will bring a phenomenal attitude to our team and a strong competitive spirit to our tennis program.”

During his freshman season at Tarpon Springs High School, Beiler was named team captain and season MVP while finishing as the No. 1 singles District 3A runner-up. After moving to Dunedin High School as a sophomore, the newcomer helped his team qualify for the state championship in singles and doubles and led them to their second District Title in school history. Additionally, Beiler was voted first team All-County (Pinellas County).

The Eagles will return to the court for their championship season in the spring by hosting the FGCU Spring Tournament from January 7-9 at the FGCU Tennis Complex.
