FORT MYERS, Fla. –The FGCU men’s tennis team will welcome No. 65 Georgia State and South Alabama to the Three Oaks Tennis Complex over the weekend for the FGCU Invitational. The competition gets underway on Friday morning and concludes on Sunday afternoon.

The tournament format will be four flights of singles and two flights of doubles.

“This is going to be a great tournament for us to kick-off the season,” said first-year head coach C.J. Weber. “All the teams will get a bunch of matches in to help prepare for the dual match season. We’re honored to have both Georgia State and South Alabama come down. It’s going to be a lot of great competition throughout the weekend.”

The Eagles will be competing with eight singles players and four doubles teams. Senior Matthew Rock (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Fort Lauderdale HS/Jacksonville) and sophomore Dean Tsamas (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay HS) led the team this fall with four victories each. Freshman Tianyu Bao (Tianjin, China/Bayshore HS) has a 3-2 record in five matches.
